The name BLU comes from IBM’s Big Blue project. Elements of BLU Acceleration are put into various Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems. Earlier versions of these technologies were aimed at processing business intelligence. As BLU Acceleration evolved, engineers figured out how to better access data from RAM and work with SQL queries to build a tool suite with the potential to help refine and manage big data in a digital, fast-paced world.
