What Does Berg Connector Mean?
A Berg connector is a connector used in computers to connect electrical circuits. It was manufactured by Berg Electronics Corporation before being acquired as a division of Framatome Connectors International. Berg connectors were widely used in the late 80s and early 90s, especially in computer power supplies.
After the company ownership was transferred, the Berg connector also became known as the P7 connector or Mini-Molex connector.

Berg connectors are smaller in size than Molex connectors. In Berg connectors, the pins are square and come in double or single row connectors. There are different types of Berg connectors, with the 4-pin and 2-pin being the most familiar. The 4-pin Berg connector is commonly known as the floppy power connector, as it was used for connecting the 3.5-inch floppy disk drive to the power supply unit. It is the most popular Berg connector. The 2-pin Berg connector is used in connections for turbo switches, front panel lights, jumpers for motherboard configuration and reset button to the motherboard of the computer.
Like most connectors, Berg connectors were also keyed in order to avoid improper connections or incorrect mating.
With the advancement of technology, the use of Berg connectors has lessened.
