What Does Bacn Mean?

Bacn refers to any email that is not spam or unsolicited but that the recipient/reader doesn’t have time or is currently unavailable to read. Bacn is often subscribed/opt-in email that interests the user but remains unread in the inbox for an undefined period time.

Typically, emails labeled as bacn are not as important as personal or professional emails, but provide/fulfill some interesting content or information. Bacn email can include news alerts, blog updates, social media digests, promotional emails and more.

Bacn in not an acronym. It’s a term that was invented by bloggers at PodCamp Pittsburgh 2 in 2007 as an extension of spam. Spam is email you do not want. Bacn is email you intend to consume, although perhaps not right away, such as coupons from stores where you shop.
