Techopedia Explains Application Service Virtualization

Application service virtualization enables cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) by incorporating tools and technologies that allow access to an application via the Internet without any up front installation by the end user or client PC. Each virtualized application is delivered as a service to multiple users that are simultaneously connected.

These technologies include a remote physical/virtual server, application virtualization hypervisor and the application itself. The application virtualization hypervisor manages user sessions, resource allocation and other backend application management processes.
