AIOZ Network (AIOZ)

What is AIOZ Network?

AIOZ Network is a Cosmos-powered and EVM-compatible Web3 media infrastructure designed to revolutionize the storage and streaming of text, audio, and video content on the internet.

Functioning as a layer-1 blockchain protocol, the AIOZ Network facilitates the swift relay of content across both Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems, fostering seamless interoperability across both networks.

This enables users to transfer data efficiently and cost-effectively through compatible decentralized applications (dApps).

To achieve this, the blockchain protocol enables one-click porting of interoperable dApps, provides instant finality, charges very low micro-transaction fees, and leverages a multi-chain architecture with infinite horizontal scalability.

The multi-chain solution is powered by Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and WebAssembly (WASM) smart contracts.

However, AIOZ Network isn’t solely focused on these capabilities. The protocol also operates a decentralized content delivery network (dCDN) powered by peer-to-peer (P2P) nodes.

The nodes play an integral role in how the AIOZ Network works, and they are categorized into:

  • Content Providers (CPs)
  • Delivery Nodes (DNs)
  • Edge Nodes (ENs).

Techopedia Explains

The AIOZ Network is the next step in the evolution of digital multimedia for the Web3 ecosystem. This innovative platform acts as a bridge, connecting users’ nodes to a global network of dCDNs, resulting in faster and more robust content delivery.

Hence, the AIOZ Network can be described as a human-powered internet.

To make this possible, each user runs the AIOZ node desktop app, available on Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems (OS). This app optimizes users’ computational resources, network bandwidth, and storage mechanisms to store digital media content.

When a user in a specific location searches for a file, it is instantly retrieved from the nearest node rather than a distant centralized server. This approach significantly reduces the cost and time required to access the desired file.

Beyond expediting content delivery, this decentralized framework enhances video streaming quality. Moreover, AIOZ Network eliminates the barriers between content creators and their supporters in the traditional content delivery landscape.

Whether it is text, audio, games, Metaverse, livestream, virtual reality (VR), or augmented reality (AR), AIOZ Network provides the infrastructure for seamless content across diverse domains.

In return for running the node app, users earn the AIOZ token. This token is compatible with the Ethereum and Cosmos’ Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.

The AIOZ Network Token

The AIOZ Network is powered by the AIOZ token, which functions as an ERC-20 token and is built on the Cosmos blockchain. As of December 1, 2023, the digital token has a total supply of 1 billion, with 993 million plus already in circulation.

Besides serving as the standard mechanism for transaction settlement, the AIOZ token performs several other functions:

  • Staking AIOZ: Holders of the digital token have the option to lock up (stake) their assets, contributing to the security of the blockchain network against potential malicious attacks. In return for this commitment, users receive a variable annual percentage yield (APY), depending on the inflation metrics of the network per time.
  • Reward Mechanism: The AIOZ token serves as a reward mechanism for Delivery Nodes (DNs) that dedicate their computing resources, storage, and bandwidth to ensure the efficient delivery of content within the network.

How Does AIOZ Network Work?

AIOZ Network operates through a twin-turbo structure that leverages the unique advantages of blockchain and distributed storage technology.

The blockchain layer addresses security, transparency, and governance concerns, while the distributed storage system prioritizes the swift delivery of digital media content.

Powering both layers is the novel proof-of-delivery (PoD) consensus mechanism, which directly pays nodes for delivering the required content to end-users.

The nodes are categorized into three essential components:

  • Content Providers (CPs): CPs are the source of digital media content sent to the AIOZ Network. These can be creators, publishers, or platforms seeking a direct connection with their supporters.
  • Delivery Nodes (DNs): DNs play the most crucial role in the blockchain media infrastructure protocol. They are responsible for storing and delivering digital media content to requesting Edge Nodes (ENs).
  • Edge Nodes (ENs): ENs are the end-users who request video content. Following the efficient dispatch by the DN, these users can stream the files on their devices. Additionally, ENs have the capability to share their storage and bandwidth resources with other ENs, thereby establishing a cluster network that enhances the performance and resilience of the AIOZ Network.

History of AIOZ Network

Established in 2021, AIOZ Network is the brainchild of Erman Tjiputra, an accomplished blockchain developer based in Singapore who also serves as the company’s CEO.

The team is complemented by other key members, including Hien Nguyen, the head of blockchain; Trieu Nguyen, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO); Hung Nguyen, overseeing project management; and Quang Tran, leading the AI department.

Key Features of AIOZ Network

The crypto landscape is filled with numerous blockchain networks with unique attributes. Like most, AIOZ Network brings a unique and important role into the decentralized economy. Below, we consider some of the key characteristics users should pay attention to.

WASM Smart Contracts

While this might not be the foremost consideration for everyday users, AIOZ Network’s WebAssembly (WASM) smart contract support is particularly appealing to dApp developers.

WebAssembly is a programming language that uses a binary instruction format for a stack-based virtual machine. It is meticulously designed to surpass the speed and efficiency of many interpreted programming languages, such as Solidity.

AIOZ Network’s adoption of WASM is noteworthy because, unlike the predominant use of Solidity in Ethereum’s smart contracts, WASM provides a much-needed outlay for developers to create custom-based smart contracts with less technical difficulties.

WASM smart contracts not only operate at a faster pace but also provide a superior and more unique user experience. The flexibility in language use is another advantage, allowing developers to write in C++, C#, Typescript, or Rust, diverging from the static framework of Solidity.

Furthermore, WASM smart contracts exhibit heightened security as they can be broken down into machine code and are more efficient in handling errors.

Node-Based Service

Traditional content delivery networks, like Google and Microsoft, rely on private centralized servers situated at remote locations. These corporate entities act as intermediaries between content creators and their supporters as they hold the required content on their servers.

AIOZ Network disrupts this paradigm by ushering in a framework where centralized control becomes obsolete, empowering users to directly contribute to the efficient transfer of files.

Through the creation of P2P node clusters in different locations, AIOZ Network’s infrastructure allows users to access the files they need without contending with issues like poor video streaming quality, sluggish access times, and centralized control.

The nodes serve as the backbone of the dCDN, facilitating frictionless distribution of digital media content whenever required. The proximity afforded by these nodes often results in superior streaming quality, paving the way for a more advanced and futuristic internet experience.

Leveraging Idle PCs

A significant portion of the global population, roughly one-third, possesses personal computers (PCs); some individuals even have access to multiple devices.

Rather than allowing these PCs to remain idle, the AIOZ Network taps into their computing power, network bandwidth, and storage capacity to operate nodes.

These PCs become mini-capsules that make up the AIOZ Network’s media infrastructure. In return for this service, each PC or node is rewarded with its native AIOZ token, making it a viable passive income stream.

The Bottom Line

As blockchain technology continues to reshape our global interactions, AIOZ Network emerges as a catalyst in the evolution of content delivery, steering towards a more decentralized and human-centric internet.

Running on a P2P methodology, the protocol is able to seamlessly ensure person-to-person file sharing without the bottlenecks a traditional CDN would face.

The proximity users enjoy from streaming video significantly boosts the quality of videos and rapidly increases the delivery time for end-users.

While AIOZ Network is not a lone ranger in the dCDN field, the platform provides options and boosts the growing importance of blockchain in global content delivery.
